How To Unlock The Travel Experience At Home!

“I just want to go somewhere. It doesn’t matter where. Just somewhere outdoors.”

Sounds like the voice in your head? We hear you. Today, each one of us is craving to go to some place which does not resemble the same four walls we have been locked in since March 2020.

But. Of course, there is a but.

We are responsible citizens and choose long-term safety over momentary pleasure (Pat on your back! You are doing great!).

Again, there’s a but. Don’t worry, this time, it’s the good kind.

The pandemic only prohibits travel. Who stopped you from creating travel experiences at home? We can’t think of anyone!

So, let us do what we love to do best - create a memorable experience for you. This time with a twist - the home version!

  • Call - Chat - Cook

Didn’t expect cooking to be associated with calling and chatting, right? But just think about it. You probably have friends from diverse backgrounds and now more than ever, you connect with them virtually. The next time you call, why don’t you ask for a recipe of their traditional dish and try making it? Kerala cuisine in a Punjabi household brings you little closer to Kerala, isn’t it? Oh, and if you are tired of too much virtual chit-chat, there’s always YouTube - a global repository of recipes of dishes you would love to experiment while cooking!

Rely on your cooking skills until we get a chance to make you savour delicious local dishes again!

  • Build A Blanket Fort And Have A Good Night

Probably just thinking about that scrumptious meal made you think about the peaceful sleep after. And since we are on the topic, how about a better plan than just sleep? Tonight, gather everyone, take a blanket, a few pillows and bedsheets, and everything you need to (no, not sleep!) make a blanket fort! The camping experience by the lakeside is definitely magical, but creating a similar magic inside the fort isn’t a bad idea. Remove the Diwali or Christmas lights from that corner of the cupboard to make your blanket pretty and wrap yourself in the warm hug of your loved ones. Just what you need in these difficult times.

Watching the starry night might have to wait. Till then, make room for some light indoors!

  • Be The Damsel In Delight!

We have become a little too comfortable in our pyjamas, haven’t we? But do you remember the times you went on trips? Posing in 100 different poses turning the poor photographer friend crazy or capturing the whole journey by clicking away! So, hear us out. This weekend, have a gharwala party, and dress up in anything but gharwala dress! Sing, dance, eat, cook - do everything together and don’t forget to capture them all. The happy memories made during the pandemic deserve special treatment for sure!

Wake up the models and the photographers in you whom we miss a lot!

  • Enjoy Some Story Time, Adults!

What’s your favourite part of travelling with others? We’ll tell ours. Stories! Meeting new people means new stories to be etched in our hearts! The conversations during the journey, over multiple meals, or just before dozing off - we are sure you miss them just like we do. But hey! There’s a way to keep them alive. Today after dinner, sit with your family, go through photos from your old trips and share your stories with them. If they are from a family trip, even better. Let the nostalgia spread some joy!

Pro tip: In this conversation, think about where you want to go next. Once the pandemic is over, why waste time thinking about the place? Thank us later.

  • Find Peace In Pieces

And to the ones who travel to savour solitude, we haven’t forgotten you. We know it has become difficult to find some ‘me’ time which was easily available on the beach during sunset or at the hilltop during sunrise. And in some capacity, we assure you, it is possible

even today. Have your morning tea while reading a book or just stare at the wide blue sky from your balcony. During the day, along with scheduling your meetings, schedule your breaks as well - where you are not available for your partner, kids, in laws - no one. Just you and your smartphone maybe (You got to catch up on that series without any distraction. You deserve it!).

Hang in there. We got you. Specifically, our itinerary will take care of you.

“This all sounds great. But also sounds like a lot of work!”

Hey hey, is that the voice in your head again? Yes, we know, these days anything and everything sounds like work. But trust us, when you try these things, you won’t end up rolling your eyes like you do after every Zoom call. On a lighter day, choose the one that excites you the most, spread your wings as much as possible till the time the world opens its doors for us.

Until then, we’ll prepare ourselves so that as soon as the world is ready for us, we are ready for you - to fly and flee to the place of your choice!

P.S. : This was a sample blog written for a travel company for women.
