FATHER.
I have a father, too awesome to be true.
Treats me like his princess,like most fathers do.
He just didn't pass the surname, he taught me to be one.
I voiced my opinions in the house,
He accepted defeat if he was on the wrong.
Orthodox upbringing was what he knew,
But he changed for us,like very few.
BROTHER.
Younger than me,but behaves like my elder.
No daily texts,no weekly calls,
For the 2 am kind life talks, on him I can fall.
Sees something in me which I fail to see,
Lights the flame, the fire in me.
Wants me to write something about him,
Fails to understand words fall short for him.
I have no Rakhi brother;
For the one I have doesn't make me feel the need to go any farther.
BEST FRIEND.
I have a guy best friend, who defines true friendship in my life.
Embraces me with his open arms,
Catches me when I am down.
But never ever tells me which road should I take,
Never ever tells me what should be my next step.
No doubt he cares,no doubt he follows me like my shadow.
But shadowing my abilities? Just not his style!
He tells me to flap my wings and fly,
Trampoline he will be,when I fall and cry.
He is ordinary,
Making my life extra ordinary.
MY BOYS.
You have a glance at my tribe, you will see more men;
It's been like that since I was ten.
Dare you look down on my girl squad!
Too powerful, too strong.
But this is to them, my boys.
To those who treat me nothing less.
To those who come with no drama.
To those who don't run away from my cramps and mood swings.
To those who always stay, no matter how bold or vulnerable I am.
Your wing - woman on duty,always.
I promise!
This is an ode to all the men in my life.
Not because they "allow" me to be the woman I am.
Because they know no other way.
No other way than treating me like a normal human being.As simple as it sounds!
How difficult can this be for few people,it's ridiculously strange.
This Women's day, go treat the men in your life.
They are neither given due credit on Men's Day nor celebrated on Father's Day!
